Peachtree Heights West

At A Glance

For generations Peachtree Heights West has been a choice neighborhood for the long-time Buckhead residents. When a home becomes available, there are usually several buyers who have been “waiting” on it for a decade or two. More 5th or 6th generation Atlantans choose Peachtree Heights West (also called Peachtree Heights Park) than most any other old Buckhead neighborhood.

These approximately 550 homes are some of Buckhead’s finest. Many streets have a timeless, almost-perfect feel. The homes in Peachtree Heights West are a treasure trove of historic architecture and Southern charm, nearly every home is worthy of a magazine cover.

In the mid 1930s, one of Atlanta’s most famous New South journalists, Henry Grady, resided at 78 West Wesley Road. Grady was managing editor an part owner of the Atlanta Constitution. The original sales office for the development – now used for Atlanta Public Schools administration – still stands at Peachtree/Peachtree Battle. Home styles are classic: English Tudor, Georgian and Italian were popular. Architectural firms of note include Shutze, Hentz, Reid and Adler, Pringle and Smith, Tucker and Howell. The area was listed in the National Register of Historic Places as “Peachtree Heights Park Historic District” in 1980.

The Atlanta History Center and Swan House are located here in the Peachtree Heights West neighborhood. It is just a few short blocks away from the best of what Peachtree Road has to offer, with an over-abundance of retail activity all along in both directions.  West Paces Ferry Rd and Peachtree Rd intersection, where Whole Foods, the St Regis Hotel and many of Buckhead’s popular boutique shops and restaurants are located. The luxury retail district, Buckhead Atlanta, is right around the corner, and Peachtree Hills’ Peachtree Battle Shopping Center is just to the south.
