Following a shocking $200 million foreclosure of The Piedmont Center and the subsequent unveiling of its Mixed-Use Master Plan, Florida-based CP Group announces its next step in this redevelopment: Buckhead Medical Center. With Buckhead’s commercial real estate community now well into the post-pandemic era, the CP Group’s plan to revitalize the Piedmont Center into a mixed-use development and upscale medical center signals the industry’s response to an ever-changing real estate landscape.

Where Hospitality Meets Healthcare
In an all-cash transaction, CP Group acquired the 2.2 million-square-foot, 14-building office campus in the heart of Buckhead’s business district. While some tenants currently occupy the offices, the future of the expansive property has largely been left unknown. The developer’s latest initiative will transform the southernmost buildings, formerly known as The Fountains at Piedmont Center, or Buildings 9-12, into a hospitality-oriented medical complex. “Buckhead Medical Center is a natural extension of creating a true community-driven destination at Piedmont Center,” said Chris Eachus, Founding Partner at CP Group. “The transformation of Piedmont Center gives us a rare opportunity to create the most convenient medical office solution in Buckhead. We’ve identified a market gap for large blocks of space for private practice groups and large health systems to expand their footprints. When you pair this large medical office offering with the connectivity within a thoughtfully upgraded campus environment, we are setting a new standard for how healthcare is delivered and experienced in Atlanta.”

Planned enhancements for the medical center include a newly constructed patient drop-off area, prominent building signage along Piedmont Road, an advanced digital wayfinding system, an upgraded on-site café, a dedicated pharmacy space, a patient parking deck, valet service, and a transportation lounge. Physician-focused features include exclusive access to a dedicated physicians’ lounge, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and designated physician parking. While the updated amenities are already swoon-worthy, Buckhead Medical Center’s existing infrastructure is already equipped to accommodate surgical and imaging uses. Additionally, tenants of Buckhead Medical Center will have access to the entire 2.2-million-square-foot campus, including additional amenities.
A Strategic Bet on Buckhead’s Future

With easy access to Georgia Highway 400 and centrally located among Atlanta’s major healthcare facilities, Buckhead Medical Center is an accessible location to the city’s larger healthcare ecosystem. “Transforming a portion of Piedmont Center into Buckhead Medical Center is a forward-thinking approach that directly responds to the growing demand for modern medical office spaces,” said Katharine Kelley, CEO of Buckhead Coalition and Buckhead Community Improvement District. “We are also excited about Piedmont Center’s addition of a new retail corridor along Piedmont as Buckhead continues to add energy and walkability to its streets.” Later this year, CP Group plans to deliver a full floor of move-in-ready medical office spec suites, ranging from 2,600 to 6,500 square feet, already configured for clinical and administrative uses. The group’s efforts to transform the legacy commercial space come at a pivotal moment for Buckhead’s office market. By converting underutilized office inventory into a hospitality-oriented medical hub, CP Group is offering a blueprint for how legacy properties can find new relevance in a post-pandemic landscape.
