Buckhead Snapshot: Back On The Farm At The Atlanta History Center

Andreas Muller of Gunshow

On Friday, September 14 the grounds of the Atlanta History Center were buzzing with activity. Kevin Gillespie, alum of Top Chef and owner of Gunshow and Revival, led a team of the Southeast’s best chefs and pit masters for the sixth annual fall fundraiser. Chefs such as Suzanne Vizethann of Atlanta’s Buttermilk Kitchen and Seni Alabi Isama of SmoQue Pit in Statesboro whipped up culinary delights influenced by the History Center’s Barbecue Nation exhibition. Dishes like whole hog and beef brisket were paired with cocktails curated by Mercedes O’Brien of Gunshow.

The event raised funds to support the Smith Family Farm, a working 1840s farm on the Atlanta History Center grounds. The farm houses animals that would have been present on the property in the early 19th century and is an important destination for school trips and families who want to visit an actual, functional farm saved from the ravages of history.
