The Icon Buckhead apartments are slated to have a sibling tower in a phase-two project dubbed “Uber Icon.”

The 35-story Icon opened in 2019 at 3327 Peachtree Road at the Stratford Road intersection. Uber Icon, a similar luxury tower proposed at 32 stories, would rise on the back of that property along Stratford, wrapping around an existing parking garage.

Related Group is the developer for both towers and recently filed the Uber Icon plans with the City, indicating no zoning variances are expected.

A letter in the filing proposes 209 luxury apartment units and an additional parking deck, attached to the existing one, with 392 spaces. However, some different numbers are given elsewhere in the documents that appear to combine the figures of the existing Icon tower.

The main vehicle and pedestrian entrance would be on Stratford, which runs between the Icon site and the Waldorf Astoria hotel and Del Frisco’s Grille restaurant.

The Icon site is in the heart of Buckhead’s main business district. The Lenox Square mall sits about 500 feet to its east and the Buckhead MARTA Station is about 500 feet to the west. Right behind the property is another luxury apartment tower, the SkyHouse Buckhead.

The proposal now will undergo City zoning review.

The entire Icon/Uber Icon property is technically owned in the short term by the Development Authority of Fulton County (DAFC), which granted the developer a tax break several years ago. At that time, DAFC did not disclose the estimated value of its multiyear tax breaks, which later became controversial in part for subsidizing projects in hot real estate markets like Buckhead.
