Looking for an exciting way to learn more about History in Buckhead, meet some of your most interesting neighbors, and have an exciting adventure at the same time? Read on to find out how!

On Sunday, April 30th at 4:00, prepare for a little friendly competition! Join the Buckhead Heritage Society for the second annual “Hunt for Buckhead’s Hidden Secrets: A History Scavenger Hunt,” the adventure-filled afternoon where teams compete to solve clues for fun prizes. Guests will gather for drinks (included in ticket price) and to receive clues at Bobby Jones Golf Course Clubhouse before boarding limos and embarking on a competitive history-themed scavenger hunt that leads to venues throughout Buckhead, including residential neighborhoods, commercial buildings and even cemeteries. Not only will teams gain points with every solved riddle, they’ll experience the rich history of Buckhead along the way.

“It was a super-fun way to spend a few hours with friends on a Sunday afternoon [last year]. I tried to prepare by reading ‘Atlanta History for Cocktail Parties’ by James Ottley, but then ended up competing in the hunt against James Ottley himself!” says Tres Carpenter, board member of Buckhead Heritage.

“After about an hour and a half of “hunting,” guests will return to the Clubhouse for barbecue while the points are tallied and awards, including gift certificates and prize packages from local sponsors, are presented.”

“The Scavenger Hunt is an exciting way to spend a spring afternoon, and it helps us raise awareness about Buckhead’s rich and diverse history. Proceeds from the event enable us to fulfill our mission to preserve and promote our historic resources through hands-on preservation of historic sites, like Harmony Grove Cemetery, and through our educational programs,” says Carmie McDonald, executive director of Buckhead Heritage.
