Kelley: I traveled around the world and lived in many different places for 15 years, learning so much about other cultures’ diets and healthy living. Coming back to my home town, I saw there was no cold-pressed juice that encompassed what I believe true juice should have to be transforming your health. I started making juices and almond milks in my mom’s kitchen using Indian spices, fruits from local farmers, super foods from Asia and a whole host of other ingredients that inspired and excited me about health. Friends and family started buying the juices and milks and one thing led to another… Next thing I knew I was in a meeting with the Director of Operations at Serenbe, Garnie Nygren. She became not only a dear friend, but my business partner. We now have our own kitchen, employees, free home delivery and are selling Bamboo Juices all over Atlanta. We love helping others transform their lives for the better, the sky is the limit.
Kelley: I grew up in Buckhead, so I love the community because it’s home! So much of the inspiration for Bamboo came from my grandmother’s house in Buckhead, it had this little bamboo garden in the backyard and those memories lead me to name the company “Bamboo.” When I deliver juice to the Buckhead community I feel like I am giving back to my roots, my home, my family, my ancestry. It’s really the only place I knew until I was about 13 years old. What a gift to be able to give back to the place that gave me so many fond childhood memories!
Kelley: There are so many aspects of bamboo that make it different from other juice stores: glass bottles, organic super foods & simple ingredients, health tonics, and recipes strategically designed by both a chef and a team of people who have extensively studied health. In our process, we educate and empower people about why certain juices are healthy, but our biggest differentiator is the almond milk line. Our handcrafted almond milks are divine, delicious, healthy and completely unstoppable. Some we infuse with super foods like our coffee almond that has reishi and chaga mushrooms while others we create seasonally using the very best produce on the market. We just pressed the last of our local strawberry milk for this season and will be rolling out a blueberry milk. The apple milk will be flying off the juice press in the fall. Later this summer, we will reveal the latest super food infused milk: cinnamon super food. It’s blended with He Shou Wu, an herb that has been used in Chinese medicine for centuries to help support the kidney and liver. I love introducing our customers to these powerful herbs through our almond milk line.
